It is with great sadness that we mark the untimely passing of Bob Parker, a long time IT4Causes volunteer, on October 30. Bob joined IT4Causes around the time he retired from Altria in 2018 and used his project management expertise to quickly become a critical behind-the-scenes resource for the organization. A dependable and consistent volunteer, he spent hours every week running the team Scrum of Scrums meeting to review all the projects for each of our nonprofit clients and track progress towards completing them. Bob put in countless hours to produce the “monthly numbers” reports used to ensure each client received the full value of the services they purchased. He produced drafts for hundreds–probably thousands–of project review decks that kept our work in sync with the needs of each of our nonprofit partners.
Bob’s contributions were invisible to most of the people and agencies we served but were truly invaluable to the management and growth of IT4Causes, and the overall good they enabled us to deliver to the nonprofit community.
Bob was a fierce champion for ensuring we did right by our clients in delivering on our mission, as well as for project management discipline. He also knew how to keep meetings light and fun while getting the job done. But more importantly, he was a man who gave freely of his precious time, tremendous experience, and boundless wisdom to serve so many agencies and leaders who in turn serve tens of thousands of people in RVA and beyond.
Bob Parker was an incredible human being, and we at IT4Causes will miss him greatly.
