Meet Selina Huang: From Spreadsheets to Social Media

Selina Huang is one of our newest interns, and an accounting major at Virginia Commonwealth University with an expected graduation of May 2030. She joined IT4Causes, in her words, “for the opportunity to expand my skills and learn new things.” Her favorite classes so far are Introduction to Accounting and Business Statistics. “I love business-related classes and learning more about accounting.”

Ask her what makes her a good teammate and the answer is about communication. “I talked with my co-workers and teammates, shared my opinions, and gave feedback on theirs,” she says. “If there were questions or confusion, I talked with them to make sure we were all on the same page.” She spent June and July of this year interning with the Nottoway County School Board Office, prepping interview files for meetings, gathering files for board members, handling mail pickups and drop-offs, and completing event tasks within their timelines.

What she’s most looking forward to here is learning new things, managing social media, meeting new people, and having “a great time while working.” After graduation, she hopes to find a stable job as an accountant or work at a bank. When she has free time, she’s at the gym, rock climbing, or hanging out with friends. Welcome, Selina — you can follow along with her on LinkedIn.

Come meet our interns in person

Over eleven years, IT4Causes has placed more than 100 interns with nonprofits that needed the help — and every member of last year’s graduating cohort walked into a job.

You can meet this year’s group at Tech4All 11.0 on Thursday, September 24, 2026, 5:30–8:00 PM, at St. Joseph’s Villa, 8000 Brook Road, Richmond. The theme is Tech With Purpose: Building the Next Generation of Tech Leaders Through Internships. Expect live demos, the premiere of a game our interns built, food, drink, and free parking.

Tickets are $10, and every one of them funds this program.
