Celebrating Inclusivity and Accessibility: National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time where we recognize the importance of equity, access, and the value and talent people with disabilities can bring to the workplace. At IT4Causes, we believe that technology has the power to level the playing field for everyone.

Joe Gatzek, current technology intern at IT4Causes, lost his previous job in HVAC maintenance due to his vision impairment which prevented him from holding a driver’s license. Joe decided to complete his technology certifications in Cybersecurity and embark on a new career journey in tech and IT. On disability equity, Joe states, “People with disabilities can leverage technology, adapt to new processes of doing things, and have a fulfilling professional career.” Joe joined IT4Causes through our relationship with Virginia’s Department for the Blind & Vision Impaired.

This National Disability Awareness Month, we invite all businesses and nonprofits to join us in celebrating the incredible potential of accessible technology. Accessibility solutions such as voice recognition, eye tracking software, and screen readers are all methods that people with disabilities can use to overcome barriers within the workplace. At IT4Causes, we are excited to be part of this important journey, and we hope you’ll join us in championing the cause of inclusivity and accessibility for all. Together, we can make a world of difference.

We’re grateful for all such as Joe who spread awareness, champion accessibility, and educate others—not just during National Disability Employment Awareness Month—but every day of the year.
